Curbside valet service opens at IND

CurbsideVALET, the airport's new curbside valet program, debuted May 15 and gives IND passengers a second convenient valet option. Located curbside on the north end of the departure level, CurbsideVALET offers customers the option of bypassing the garage while getting the same convenient, reliable parking service and personalized attention they enjoy at Express Valet, the service based on Level Three of the airport parking garage.

Nature park opens on airport land

On May 13, the IAA participated in the dedication of the Sodalis Nature Park. The park represents a unique collaboration between the Indianapolis Airport Authority, Hendricks County Parks and Recreation, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Sodalis Nature Park is located on lands that have been protected for the Indiana bat under a Habitat Conservation Plan. The unique partnership is an excellent example of the IAA's multipurpose land-use policy and allows visitors the rare opportunity to enjoy a robust, permanently protected wildlife habitat, something they are not likely to experience at any other park, particularly one located in a major metropolitan area.

Summer travel trends

The Air Transport Association (ATA), forecasted that, on average, more than 2.2 million passengers would travel on U.S. airlines each day this summer, an increase of 34,000, or 1.5 percent, from last summer. The Association also found that air travel, up only $2 per average fare between 2000 and 2010, remains a bargain compared to gas prices, which are up 30% vs. last year according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.
