The Indianapolis Airport Authority's 2008 noise exposure map update and report (PDF) has been approved by the FAA and is posted here for public review.
Launched in 1987, IAA's noise mitigation program includes an update initiative every five years. Previous noise exposure studies and maps are reviewed, with particular emphasis on air traffic and operational projections. Update studies were conducted in 1992, 1997, 2003, and 2008. The analysis process of all relevant material gathered during the update process resulted in the production of an updated map of the airport's noice contours as forecasted through 2013. This material was also used to analyze the effectiveness of the airport's existing noise compatibility plan. The updated maps show minor differences between the existing conditions and future (2013) forecast conditions. Based on the latest findings, no changes to the current noise mitigation program were recommended. The airport's current guaranteed purchase, purchase assurance/sound insulaiton, and sales assistance programs will continue for homeowners in those areas previously identified.
