Interim General Counsel
Ellen Hurley first joined the Indianapolis Airport Authority as Associate General Counsel in the summer of 2017 and was named Interim General Counsel in January of 2019. Prior to attending law school, Hurley developed a love of, and dedication to, public service, working in management positions in state government, including Human Resources Director for the BMV and Deputy Director for the Indiana State Personnel Department. Hurley earned her law degree from I.U. McKinney School of Law, graduating cum laude. During law school, she served as Symposium Editor for the Indiana Law Review and participated in the Robert H. Stanton Moot Court competition, earning the Elijah Lovejoy award for best appellate brief and being named to the Order of the Barristers. Upon admittance to the bar, Hurley served as Minority Counsel in the Indiana Senate, as Corporation Counsel for the city of Lawrence, and as Assistant Corporation Counsel for the city of Indianapolis. Hurley is a longstanding volunteer for the Indiana Judges and Lawyers Assistance Program (JLAP) and currently serves as the chair of the JLAP Committee.
